We managed to get to breakfast on time, well at least before it closed. Then it was time to "organize". Seems one of us organized our backpack before we left, the other spent hours of vacation time doing it. But it did work out for the best. By the time we were ready to hike, a short hike to get acclimated, we started hearing thunder. We decided to start at the visitor center and see what they recommended for short hikes. As we watched two ambulances go by we felt the safer plan would be to get a good lunch and wait for the storm to pass. Four hours later, after lunch and a bit of shopping, we finally decided it was time to try the park. A nice gentlemen at the Estes Park visitor center recommended we drive through the rain to the bear lake trail and if it was still raining we could at least see it. Luckily it stopped raining just as we got there and we ended up not only walking around Bear Lake, but up to Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lakes as well. It was a great time to hike since the trails were pretty quiet and at was pretty cloudy. We got back to the car just before dark, and it started raining again not long after. Perfect timing.
